Get Help to Quit Smoking
There are a lot of resources out there where you can get help to quit smoking. A lot of the help you need can be accessed through the Web. Of course, that opens you up to sites that are less than professional, where the information you need might be biased (trying to sell a certain product or service), or what’s worse, incompetent. I’m not an “expert” in smoking. I don’t have a Ph.D. in psychology or an M.D. I’m basically just a guy who is willing to put hundreds of hours of my time into creating a site where you can find accurate, unbiased information—the kind you need to figure out how you can quit cigarettes for good, this time. So, if you need help quitting smoking, then your best bet is to start right where you are and look at what this site has to offer. Bookmark it! It’s growing rapidly! Subscribe to my newsletter and also my RSS feed. As far as resources outside this site, let me mention a few that are trustworthy and that can really help you with the information you need. Knowledge is power! Learn all you can about quitting. The more you understand why you’re addicted to nicotine and how to get un-addicted, the greater your chances of quitting for good this time. Don’t just read and think about what you’re going to do sometime, some day, however. Nicotine is a cruel master—make no bones about it, you’re slave to a chemical! Because you’re addicted, it’s difficult for your brain to think logically about quitting. Your brain can be your most important ally, but it can also be your worst enemy. If you have a substance abuse problem, then your brain often turns against you—all because it wants more of the substance it’s become dependent on. (Make no mistake, smoking is just as much a substance abuse problem as snorting cocaine!) So, the best way to handle this natural desire to procrastinate is to set a date to quit. Get your calendar and pick a date. Make it one week or less from now. Maybe, three or so days. Smoke all you want to. Get ready. Then quit! If you’re under a doctor’s care, as him/her what to do. If you’re taking drugs like Zyban
Zyban
or
Chantix
, there’s usually about a week period that you’re taking the medicine before you actually stop smoking. But whatever you do, Do It! Don’t wait too long! If you need more inspiration, subscribe to my newsletter.
