20 Reasons to Quit Smoking

Why just 20 reasons to quit smoking? It could have been 20 thousand!

There are as many reasons to quit smoking as there are days in the rest of your life! (Which will be statistically longer if you quit smoking)

There are as many reasons to quit smoking as people you have known or will ever know.

You could actually think of a new reason every single second that you’re alive and looking around this beautiful world you live in.

But just in case you're feeling a little stuck…I’m going to give you twenty reasons you can think about…

You need to quit smoking to:

  1. Live longer
  2. Live a more healthy life
  3. Run…again
  4. Or if you are young and can still run, to make sure you can run when you’re 50!
  5. To make sure you reach 50 in the first place
  6. Because your breath smells like stale cigarette smoke
  7. Because you’re tired of your tongue tasting like a burnt shoe when you wake up
  8. Freedom!
  9. So you don’t have to stand out in the rain at work to get your fix
  10. So your baby is born healthy
  11. So your child does not develop asthma
  12. So you don’t have to have part of your lung taken out in your forties
  13. Speaking of lungs, so you don’t have to have a lung transplant
  14. To avoid cancer
  15. To avoid destroying your family when you get cancer--see my story on the home page
  16. To get your youthful looks back
  17. Speaking of looks, so you don’t look like Keith Richards when you’re his age
  18. So you don’t blow a quarter of a million dollars on smokes over the course of your (probably shorter) life
  19. So you can tell your children with truth and honesty: “Don’t smoke”!
  20. So you can smell flowers and fresh bread again!
  21. So you can taste again!
  22. To get your life back! All of it! In health and happiness!

There, that was actually 22 reasons. Two more than I promised you. Yes, I tried to write them in an entertaining way, but that was so you would pay attention.

If any of these reasons made you mad, then…well, the truth hurts.

But don’t beat yourself up! Be good to yourself!
